THE TIMELESS ICON OF GIUSEPPE CIPRIANI

The Original Bellini: The Cipriani signature cocktail

The Bellini has a soul that speaks for itself.

Bellini’s secret

A sweet and soft aperitif in which the velvety flavour of fresh white peaches blends with the vivacity of Prosecco, giving life to a cocktail that is a riot of life, both for the eyes and for the palate.
The original Bellini recipe has had the same ingredients since the cocktail was first invented in 1948: white peaches and Prosecco, which complement each other perfectly.

The history of the aperitif dedicated to freedom

In 1948, war and liberation were vivid memories in people’s hearts. This is why Giuseppe Cipriani, within the walls of his recently re-opened Harry’s Bar in Venice, decided to create a cocktail to celebrate peace: the Bellini. This aperitif with a taste a freedom was names after Giovanni Bellini, the famous painter also known as Giambellino – in fact in 1948 an exhibition of all his works was held at Palazzo Ducale. Since then, Bellini has gone down in history as a classic cocktail; an external symbol of freedom, artistic expression and sharing of memorable occasions.

COLOUR

The Bellini in the bottle has the same rosy colour as the cocktail served at Harry’s Bar in Venice: a sophisticated nod to the colour of ripe white peaches.

SCENT

Enveloping and soft, the Bellini is fresh and fruity at the same time: a sweet prelude to its timeless flavour.

TASTE

From the first sip a sparkling panache, which enhances the sweetness of the peach, which in turn balances the sour note of the prosecco.

HOW TO DRINK BELLINI

The Cipriani Bellini glass

The perfect glass to serve a Bellini is one that is comfortable to hold, whilst allowing you to savour the taste of sparkling and fresh white peaches. Giuseppe Cipriani wanted to avoid the discomfort and inconvenience of the usual slim chalice with a stem – instead choosing a larger glass with a unique cylindrical shape, allowing you to feel at home whilst sipping a refined cocktail.
